Yearnings

I am having yearnings for another baby.  It's probably due to the fact that I am friends with someone who has a baby with another on the way and am friends with another person who is also due.  (Yes, I will be in Indiana before the baby comes.)  I even had a dream last night I was nursing a baby.  However, even if I were to ignore the fact that Husband has had a vasectomy (please don't cite statistics of couples who end up pregnant even after having had a vasectomy) I also know that I don't deal well with post-partum.  I suffer post-partum depression and when I struggle, my family suffers.  So while I am having desires of having another baby, I know it would not be good for us to have one.

There was a Veteran's Appreciation Celebration today which we attended and it was really nice.  We didn't stay for the whole thing since it was a full day event.  However the time we were there was wonderful.  The Patriot Guard, Bikers United, and a few others were there as well in support and recognition of Vets.  (Many of them being Vets themselves.)  They were also doing a fund raiser/silent auction for Segs4Vets which I had never heard of before until this event.

After leaving there, we went for a drive and found a swap meet where we picked up a science/math program and a Hardy Boys book (three books in one) for Charlie.  He got his first Hardy Boys book and had to be pried away from it once we got home and had work to do.  I remember reading Nancy Drew under the covers by flashlight.  I'm laughing to myself because he is so much like me with reading and Husband is aggravated because he is so much like me with reading.  While he is pleased that Charlie loves to read, he gets annoyed because (like me) the world disappears when he is reading and he hears nothing going on around him.

The rest of the cracks and seams have been sealed with liquid nails and the vents have been covered which makes this house even warmer.  Tomorrow when we get home from church, we're going to put together the pig pen.  We've decided how we are going to do it and with what so now it is just a matter of getting it done.  It won't take long.  We are also going to have to let the goats loose for the day on Tuesday when we introduce Cassandra to Davarge.  When horses (equine) meet, they either get along really well or they have a kicking contest.  This is going to be very interesting.

We had beef stew for dinner tonight.  It was pot roast last night, but we never got a chance to enjoy it.  We're going to have left overs tomorrow.  I'm going to add corn starch to thicken it a bit.  It was good.  It had simmered for a couple of days on the big wood burner.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the piglets.  I need to figure out how many there are.  I'll find out on Tuesday I guess.  I'm going to let them wean on their own.  I remember one guy telling me that he used his pigs to rip up the ground for planting.  He would get piglets in the fall, put them where his garden was going to be, and let them have at it.  That their natural tendencies to rip up the ground basically tilled up the dirt for him and in early spring, he would have them butchered and he would have lose, fertile dirt to plant in.  Since we are going to have several garden areas, I suppose we could have two per spot and when the time came for butchering, sell them.  For now, though, we are going to keep them somewhat close because of the babies and the need to protect them from predators.  We'll just keep them downwind.

What's wrong with Hardy Boys? I realize that it took two boys do do the same thing as one girl, but that doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with the series!
