We have arrived.

After what was supposed to take 8-10 hours for our trip turning into something closer to 14 hours due to one thing after another happening including a blown tire on the horse trailer, we have arrived.
.
In getting some of the stuff unloaded last night, I mumbled to myself something along the lines of "At least Elena didn't kid." An hour later, I hear a really loud bleat. Elena went into labor.
.
I'm tired. I drove the whole way towing the boat. I'm grumpy. One thing after another kept happening. Things were not happening on my mental schedule. I have a million things to do in the dark. Now, I'm playing midwife to a goat. Great.
.
I am also worried because I wasn't sure if this was a bit preterm and stress induced or if she was actually on schedule and we just had really bad timing. After watching her labor (and she is really dumb when it comes to labor) she gave birth to a boy and a girl.
.
The laboring itself was annoying to me because I was so tired. Any other time, it would have been amusing and it is now looking back on it. Here she is trying to push and I see two hooves and a nose. Wonderful. No breech. And a moth flies by. She stops, stands up, tracks the moth, looks around, paws the ground, and eats a few leaves. Meanwhile, the nose and hooves go back in and she starts the whole process all over again.
.
Anyway, both babies and Elena are doing well. We have a decent size area set up for the goats and they are loving all the fresh browse. A lot of work has been done setting up base camp and more still needs to be done. House construction will start in another couple of weeks or so.
.
It is beautiful and peaceful down here. I love it. Water is a temporary issue since the creek has dried up some. But that is temporary thanks to the weather report.
.
Heard on the radio: "There is a chance it might rain today. Then again, it might not. If it does, it will be a heavy rain." Ok. I can deal with that.
.
I will be heading into town later to get some water and ice. I will be taking pictures soon and get them posted. My battery is low and reception is spotty, so I will need to plug the computer in and I will share more later.

Sounds like you all have your hands full, Kim. But we knew that would happen. How are the kids doing? Just remember to breathe.
