Pinewood Derby

Tonight was the pack Pinewood Derby and being new to the world of cub scouts, I had no real idea what to expect. After hearing all sorts of things about it, I was really looking forward to it tonight and I am glad I was able to go.
.
Charlie decided to make his car a a blue pick-up truck. I was told today at the homeschool co-op that "trucks never win." Being a mom, I was a bit concerned about how Charlie would do after hearing that. But, I said nothing to Charlie about it. This was his derby, his car, and his choice. It was what he wanted.
.
Out of 11 cars, he won 4th place. I am very proud of him. He did very well, had a blast, and won enough rounds that his comment after winning one of the rounds was "I can't wait to win again." Granted he lost the race after that, but you know what? He had fun, and truck or no truck, he was a winner.

You know what? There were many times in my life an my childhood, and my daughter's life, that we succeeded at things simply because we didn't know that we weren't "supposed" to. You know, "trucks never win". Good for Charlie.
