Are we really doing this?

Remember when I had mentioned getting sheep for Bethany to spin her own fiber?  Well, there is a gentleman who is selling off his herd.  Sheep, goats, and dogs.  We will pick them up on Wednesday.  The sheep are not wool sheep, but rather "hair sheep."  They are used primarily for meat, but their fiber can still be spun.  It just takes more work.  I also researched how to get the lanolin out.  (Lanolin comes from sheep.)  So, we will have sheep, goats, and livestock guard dogs that have been raised with these sheep.  The gentleman was saying that with these dogs, when the ewe lambs, they bring the lamb to the dog as an introduction.  I think that's neat.  The dogs are anatolian shepards.  They have been born and raised with these sheep.  I'm looking forward to this.

Bethany had her spinning lesson today.  I brought Hannah with us so that Husband could get some work done here.  Hannah had to learn a tough lesson today.  She was looking at, smelling, and touching some flowers in a planter.  Not a big deal in and of itself.  But, she pulled some flowers out root ball and all.  I told her she had to apologize.  We knew it was an accident, but she still had to apologize.  After much screaming and crying, she was ready to apologize.  She did, hugged, and all was forgiven.  The lesson she had to learn (and will have to learn repeatedly like many people do) is that we all make mistakes but we need own up to them.

Auntie Barb... Hannah is an ornery little bugger, but she has a very tender heart. Just watching her sit and pet the dogs she is so gentle with them. You just know she wouldn't have done it on purpose. An once again one of my favorite sayings "There's so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us it hard to say which of us ought to reform the rest of us." Kinda goes along with the Biblical message to pick the lon out of our own eye before trying to clean the splinter out of the other person's eye.

That's why Hannah reacts so emotionally. Because she knew she did something wrong (even accidentally) and she felt bad about it. Even though she was having a melt down, she was also trying to hide in my shirt, in my skirt, behind my back, etc.

Pulling the flowers in and of itself was not a big deal. The lesson was "We make a mistake, we need to fess up." She has gotten into the habit of passing the blame off to Charlie and Bethany (Bethany poured the coffee creamer in her soup, put it on her mouth, and put it in her mouth) and not saying "I did it" even though she obviously did. She needs to learn that just because she did something wrong it does not mean it is the end of the world. But we still need to fess up and take responsibility. Hard lesson for a three year old. :)

Yup.
BTW did you check out the website I sent you the other day? They did a good job of listing the properties of various wildflowers including some you could rub on to ward critters off.
