I'm tired

I'm always tired.  That's not new.  I work around here and it gets tiring at times.

Last night, there was a choir concert in Danville which we attended and had a beautiful time.  Today, church service was in Danville, so we drove there and back again.  The children got cranky from the driving, but other than that, they were fine.

When we got home this afternoon, I found five dead chicks.  They look like they were basically squished to death by the other chicks.  Add that to the one found dead this morning and we are down to 44.  I gave them all fresh food and water.  The rooster I brought in Friday night has water and will be butchered tomorrow.  It is a Rhode Island Red and sounds like a coyote when he crows.  We got tired of listening to him.  Plus, he and another rooster gang up on the hens and the hens are getting some very bald backs.  The other roo (the original) does not get involved in the gang-up.  I'm not saying he avoids the ladies, but he is a gentleman about it.  (If you can realistically say that about a rooster.)

Tomorrow, I am going to do some serious outdoor work and work on the gardens.  We had snow today and tonight it is supposed to be in the 20s.  IT'S ALMOST APRIL!  GIVE ME A BREAK!  I brought in all the starts today to keep them from dying.  I am going to build up the beds some with dirt from the pig area and mix it in.  I am going to build a trellis of some kind for the beans, tomatoes, and peas.  I am going to try to salvage the potatoes and onions while trying to figure out how to block the chickens and protect the garden.

In the middle of all of this, I am going to do a Walk Away The Pounds video, do my afternoon walk with my neighbor, hit D's to do some paperwork, and go to a WW meeting tomorrow night.
