Happy St. Patrick's Day

While we don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the traditional sense of wearing green and getting drunk, we do have our things that we do on St. Patrick's Day.  That is planting potatoes.

I got the potatoes in the ground.  Well, on the ground and covered in used and new straw.

I also cleaned out the goat area down to the dirt and put lime down.  Tomorrow, I am going to put down gravel and brick before putting down fresh straw.

I also cleaned out a good portion of the shop and started on the garage.  All in all, I worked outside for about ten hours today.  I did take a break to go on my walk and took Charlie with me.  We went for a walk together and picked up trash along the way.

When Charlie asked why we were doing this, I said "ecological responsibility."  Then I explained that the trash does not look pretty and does not belong on the side of the road.  When he asked how it got there, I said that sometimes it blows out of the bed of pick-up trucks, sometimes it blows out of garbage trucks, and sometimes people just throw it out the windows of their cars.

We each need to do our part to keep our neighborhood clean.

Anyway, a lot of work got done today.  The rabbit hutch is back up.  The rabbit is now outside.  In one of the hutches, we put up a ramp for the chickens since they had taken to laying in it while it was down.  The hens like it and so does one particular rooster when one particular hen is there.

I am sore and tired, but it is a good sore and tired.  And I will be doing more work tomorrow.  I am also wanting to get onions in the ground tomorrow.
